Many entrepreneurs dream of that golden opportunity to showcase their business on national television.
Being invited to pitch to investors on a platform like Dragon's Den is often seen as the holy grail.
It can lead to instant fame, significant investment, and a surge in customers.
However, not every golden opportunity is right for every entrepreneur.
And, that's precisely the lesson I've recently learned.
I received an invitation to audition for Dragon's Den, the Canadian equivalent of Shark Tank.
An incredible honor?
Absolutely.
But, I chose NOT to go.
My reason?
Branding YOUniversity.
Our online personal branding platform is not just another business.
It's a vision, a passion, and a commitment to help individuals brand themselves successfully in the digital world.
This is a dream I have nurtured, cultivated, and watched grow from a mere idea to a robust platform.
I believe so profoundly in Branding YOUniversity's potential and its ability to revolutionize personal branding.
Giving up equity at this stage, to me, felt premature.
I respect and admire the Dragons.
Their insights, experiences, and investment can skyrocket a business.
Yet, the dragons den decision was more about believing in the self-worth of my venture than seeking external validation or funds.
I know the value Branding YOUniversity brings to the table.
And while the allure of national exposure was tempting, the vision I have for this platform is more significant.
Safeguarding its essence, preserving its mission, and maintaining full ownership at this stage are paramount.
Decisions like these are never easy.
They test our resolve, our conviction, and our belief in our business.
But, standing firm on the dragons den decision has reaffirmed my commitment to Branding YOUniversity's mission.
To all entrepreneurs out there, always trust your gut, believe in your vision, and never undervalue your worth.
